Martino’s Tradition

The Martino’s Tradition

The Martino name has been linked with “quality” and “outstanding customer service” since 1945! John and Angeline Martino started the family business by purchasing Rite Way Cleaners in 1945. All five of their children helped out at Martino’s. Dan took the largest role and by 1958 he was cleaning, spotting and doing route work – making time to marry Phyllis that same year. Dan and Phyllis Martino purchased Better One Hour Cleaners in 1970. The 70s were plagued with polyester, a drop in dry cleaning and some tight times. To diversify, the Martino’s purchased a drapery franchise. Eventually the Martino’s sold the drapery business to a loyal employee and focused back on cleaning. In 1979 John and Angeline retired and sold Rite-Way to Dan and Phyllis, expanding their business.Six years later the Martino’s opened Village Pride Cleaners. In 1989, the expanded again, purchasing Garment Groomers. In the 1990s it was time for a consistent brand, and all locations were renamed Martino’s. By 2002, Dan and Phyllis had shops located all over the city, including pick up & delivery service for Kenosha and Racine. Now in its third generation, with David managing the Laundry department and Dan II overseeing the day to day operations, Martino’s is as dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction as it was back in 1945.
